Updating NetBackup Client on Server
I need a solution
Running NBU 7.5.0.7 on RHEL 6.3. Started with a base install of 7.1, then to 7.1.0.4, then 7.5, then 7.5.0.7. The initial install and update completed without issue, so I went through the 7.5 and eventually the 7.5.0.7 updates. Through all the processes I've installed the server and client software on the master server, but somewhere along the way the client stopped updating on the master server at 7.1.0.4. Pushing the client to Linux servers pushes out version 7.1.0.4. Symantec support suggests that I need to update the binaries on the server but their link doesn't provide the correct information.
Could someone reference the correct install, upgrade, admin guide that covers this? Thank you in advance.

netbackup unable to resolve hostname.....

Netbackup 7.5.0.7
Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 x64
I'm only backing up VM's that are connected to my vCenter server which Netbackup has complete access too.
Full error found in Reports-->Problems
"netbackup unable to resolve hostname <host>, no hostname alias added to pem name manager."
Started seeing this about two weeks ago.. Not sure if 7.5.0.7 is the cause because I dont remember seeing it with version 7.5.0.6.
Been searching the forums, and google and the manual.. Not seeing a solution to this issue. Been looking in logs, and looking at the nbpem log.. Not really seeing anything in there that makes any sense...
Can anyone help resolve? Thanks!

Robtest does not show a robot

Hello Every body, I have a situation where tpconfig -l / -d command show me the whole robots i have attached to a master server, but when i run the robtest command it shows only two of the three robots attached.
I have reinstalled the sg.drivers lots of times and restarted the netbackup services bit it continues showing only two. Also I have used the command tldtest -r /path of fobot and it works.
What i am doing grong.....

Can't Reduce Logging Level
I need a solution
Support had me turn logging up all the way to help troubleshoot. When we were done collecting logs, I set the global logging level to zero and set all the other logs to the global level. Regardless, the disk in the server filled up with logs in five days. I've tried restarting NetBackup services and rebooting the server. It's still logging away like Paul Bunyan. How do you get it back to level zero? NetBackup 7.5 on Windows 2003. Thanks.

NetBackup 7.5 Lotus Domino Backup
I need a solution
Hi Folks,
I need suggestion for the better backup solution for lotus domino backup with NetBackup 7.5
A quick Infra details.
One Master Server. 25 Lotus Domino Servers with each 2.5K User Mail Box. All Lotus Domino Servers are VM Media Servers active only for Disk.
Now problem is Sunday will be full backup. and Mon to Fri Incremental Backup. Since the Domino Incremental backup will refer the Domino dbid changes for incremental backup. So dbid disabled because of performance issue. dbid will change only once a week with compaction.
So Incremental backup for mail box will complete with 0KB and transaction log backup will happen. Even though i can recover mail box with point in time recovery with the help of last full backup and transaction log backup. But Recovery time objective for the once week restoration will take 10 time more than the backup window time..
So how to minimize the RTO..? Or how to achieve the Incremental backup in the above situation...

Restoration of msql DB instance from serverA to serverB

Hi Folks,
i have a problem in msql db that is running in serverA.there was some tables deleted. now we have a backup which was taken from Symantec Netback through backup script *.bch file. My query is i need to restore the dabatase to serverB and which was taken in tape, so could you please any one help how to restore the database and actual procedure to follow and what are the pre-requisited required in serverB. Accelerator enabled backups failing with 84 ( Media write error ) on a Particular client - Rest of the clients on the same STU are completing successful.
Backup successful when configured this policy in a regular test MS-WINODWS Policy - it is running fine.

Clients Version 7.6 / W2012 server
I need a solution
Hi all,
I downloaded the "clients" package and the master/media server package for Netbackup Enterprise (licensed by capacity).
The Master server was intalled with Windows server 2012.
I am trying to install the client on Linux Enterprise RED HAT 2.6 g4 bits and i received an error " no package available for this version".....
I am not able to deploy the client via network, only locally.
Any idea?

Restore client data from NFS/CIFS storage box using Domain2 after crashed happend on Domain1 using AIR.

Hi All ,
I have storage box A on which i have created OST type file system and used another storage box B for replication(AIR replication).
I have two BackupServer on which NetBackup7.5 has installed ,one is used as Domain1 and another is used as Domain2 .
I have applied all AIR related setting on both Domain1 and Domain2.
Create Diskpool,Storgae unit,SLP(same on domain1 and Domain2),policy for Domain1,schdule etc.
Start Backup from Domain1 to Storage Box A.
Backup job successfully completed and after 2 minute replication job started that copied all backup data from Storage Box A to Storage Box B and copied catalog2 too.
Catalog imporeted from StorageBox B to Domain2.
Ctalog imported successfully and all image related information displayed(db/image ) file (.f).
My question is that how i will restore client data from storage box B(that contain replicated data) using domain2 server if my domain1 server has collapsed.

Oracle RMAN restore from alternate client in different NetBackup domain

Hello folks,
We have PROD and DEV NetBackup Linux master domains all running NB 7.5.0.6.
There are scenarios in which an Oracle RMAN restore of a PROD client to a DEV client is required. All clients in both domains have all PROD and DEV master/media servers in their server lists. I have been updating the master server designation on the DEV client host properties to use the PROD master in order for the DEV client to access the PROD client backups and avoid "Backup file not found in NetBackup catalog" error. This works fine, but I have to change back to the DEV master afterwards. Does anyone know of a way for RMAN to specify which master server it connects to? I would like to be able to avoid changing the master designation back and forth.

Hi All,
Currently i am managing an exixting Netbackup envirnoment which was setup by some other netbackup administrator who is no longer working with us.
I had found several backup policies in my envirnoment that have "ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES" in backup selection but policy type is Standard.
If i am not wrong "ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES" is used in backup selection for MS-Windows policy type only.
Please guide me?

Decomissioning/replacing media servers
I need a solution
My current environment consist of 8 media servers (4 at each site). Also an IBM tape library, DataDomain and NDMP hosts at each site.
The plan is to decomission 2 media servers from each site.
I'd like the remaining 4 media servers (2 per site) to take over the roles of the media servers being decomissioned.
I am aware of the nbdecommission utility, just not so sure about the actual steps for my type of environment.

Backups Using Incorrect Volume Pool
I need a solution
NBU 7.5 - I created a new standard backup policy and point it to a volume pool called "TestPool". There is a new tape in the volume pool. However when I run the policy, its backing up to tapes under the default "Netbackup" volume pool. Im really not understanding whats going on here. Any ideas?

2..i have a entry in host file 10.1.23.12. for client nbu-bur1 but it is not pinging.I have the entry for same client in DNS with different ip which is pinging.NBU backup will run in this case by picking the pingable ip in DNS?
3..When i am installing a solaris master server,I know client software of NBU solaris will also be installed.Now i have to push NBU client software from this solaris Master server to Linux client.I have to install linux client software on master server and then push or ALL client flavours os are installed by default on unixmaster server installation?
4...what this bpclntcmd -sv do?
5....for DNS query we run nslookup command.
For host file query we run bpclntcmd command??
