how to manually trigger a backup for particular volume

I need a solution

Hello All,

Can anyone help me how to manually trigger a backup for particular volume in backup selection via command line?

I have policies which hold 12 volumes; I had recently added a volume to this policy say “XYZ”, Now there are 13 volumes in this policy and I need to run a backup for the newly added volumes instead of triggering a manual backup for the complete policy.

Also I tried with the bpbackup command but resulted in below error

EXIT STATUS 100: system error occurred while processing user command

EXIT STATUS 144: invalid command usage

Command I used:

bpbackup -i -p V100-v110 -s Weekly_Full –h clientname -S masterserver -t NDMP

Please assist me in trigging the backup for this particular newly added volume.

EMM server - wrong hostname

I need a solution

- Netbackup 6.5.4

- Briefly changed the server to a new DNS domain during a physical move, but reverted changes as that is not supported

- The EMM server is stuck with the "new" domain name, and thus I can't inventory the robot. When I do, I get "EMM Server: netbackup1.new.com" and all the fields are blank. I presume I need to change it back to netbackup1.old.com in order to see the device host/robot. Doing nbemmcmd -deletehost and -addhost doesn't work; "server" isn't a valid machinetype for deletehost, and trying to add netbackup1.old.com results in it telling me that it's already in the database. bpmedia shows that all the tapes are assigned to netbackup1.new.com even though it was only changed a week ago.

- Current backup policies are running fine and the robot/tape drives are responding ok.

See below:

nbemmcmd -list -verbose:

The following hosts were found:

netbackup1.new.com
        MachineName = "netbackup1.new.com"
        MachineDescription = ""
        MachineNbuType = server (6)

        NetBackupVersion = 6.5.4.0 (654000)
        OperatingSystem = linux (16)

Filling up LTO5 Tape for incremental

I need a solution

Good Day!!

Just a quick question if any have any thoughts/suggestions on the scenario below:

We have some incremental backup that needs to be send offsite - MWF.  I created an SLP that will do duplication to LTO5 tape. I had the storage unit setup to use one(1) drive of the tape library to make sure that it fills up the whole tape before writing to another but every time I check the jobs, it does not fills up the tape. Like today,the total size of the incremental backup is 92GB which should fit into one(1) LTO5 tape but it uses two tapes.

We use a T950 tape library that has ten(10) drives.

Any settings that I miss to configure?

Guys,

Please share me your experiance , we are Planning to use NetBackup for VDI enviroment (Citrix Zenserver+ Citrix ZenDesktop)

we are targeting backing up the users' profiles that are a roaming profiles shared on CIFS.

I have followed the following technote

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag...

But the backup was partially completed because the access is denied since the files are used by another process

So I stuck in how to enable the open file support for the cifs shared

Hello,

Linux NBU master server is missing the bpjobd.db and bpjobd.act.db files. I know there is a EEB for actvity monitor jobs not diplaying properly but are these files supposed to no longer be available?

If so how to I get rid of orphan jobs in the future when the current fix was to play around with these files?

Hi,

Since we upgraded from 7.1 to 7.5.0.4, we have intermittent problem causing us some errors. The problem is that Netbackup is detecting that the Disk Volume are down so the majortiry of our backup are failing with this code : "Disk storage server is down(2106)" or "Disk volume is down(2074)".

here is my environment :

Product:  Netbackup enterprise Server
Product Version:  7.5.0.4
Platform / OS Info:  Windows 2008 R2

Disk Pool : Openstorage Disk pool on DataDomain.

I checked in the bpstsinfo log file on the Master server and i have this error when it happens

Encryption Key tag dissapeared after Upgrading to Netbackup 7.5.0.3

I need a solution

Hi,

I had a Soalari 10 backup system running Netbackup 6.5.5 with NBKMS (Netbackup key management) hardware encryption enabled. The system has been running for a few years without any issues.

I recently upgraded the system to Netbackup 7.5.0.3 and after that I am not able to view the Key Tag (encryption key tag is gone).

bpimagelist -backupid <backupid> -L shows that the tape is encrypted (Flags:            0x40  (Tape Encrypted)) but the Key tag is *NULL* I was able to see the key tag in previuos version.

Flags:            0x40  (Tape Encrypted)
Key tag:          *NULL*
STL tag:          *NULL*

How can I tell or be sure that the data is encrypted?

is this a new feature os a bug?

Thanks

VNETD packet flooding network

We noticed that during a restore/backup from the master to a specific client, we have packets related to the vnetd port transmitted to ALL the clients in the same subnet. We have doupt that this is flooding the network causing packet drops. Could this be any netbackup master/client setting?

NetBackup 6.5.4 - Changing Buffer size - New Tape Drive

I need a solution

I am receiving the error “bptm(pid 3692) the tape device at index -1 has a maximum block size of 32768 bytes, a buffer size of 65536 cannot be used.” I have tried researching this error, but I am not finding anything that applies to my setup. The version we are using is Veritas NetBackup 6.5.4, and this is a new Overland tape drive. We have two other Overland tape drives that are working just fine. Did I miss a configuration step when we swapped out our third tape drive? From my research it sounds like I need to increase the buffer size, but I cannot find out HOW to increase the buffer size. Does anyone here know..? I appreciate any help.

Thank you!!

VMware block level differential performing "full" size backup

I need a solution

I have noticed recently whilst examining slow SLP processing that some of my weekend VMware block level differential backups, although showing a low file number count are showing a "full" sized backup as having been performed.

My VMware backup policies are iSCSI (SAN) or NBD based.  They auto select VM's based on VM Version; vmx-04 VMs have the "perform block level incremental backups" box un-ticked, vmx-04 polcies have this box ticked.

In my case I do a full backup once a month on a given Sunday and differential backups on all other Sundays.

When I do a report of a random number of VM's backed up and their histories I see full and differential backups where the file count value is as expected for differentials BUT the file size is essentially the same as the full backup.

Althought mostly Windows VM's affected I also see some Linux based VM's affected as well.

NBU Version across the board is v7.1.0.4.  vSphere version is v4.1.0; ESX versions seem to be a mix of ESXi v4.1.0 running various patch levels and as I mentioned above; happening for a couple of policies which use both NBD and SAN based backups.  Policies backup to MSDP units.

Can anyone shed any light here?

I have performed new full backups but the issue seems to return after a number of weeks (i.e. before the next full).

Thanks,

Malcolm

I need a solution

If I have two interfaces(two separate networks) in a media server and both of them connected to a client, where do I define which interface will connect the client?
