We are using a standalone tape library.
Now, we label the tape manually based on the day of the week (e.g. Sumday = A00001).
There should be no problem now as the tape capacity still can store the data backup required.
However, when we incrased the data to be backedup (e.g. additional hard disks), one tape might not be enough.
How to design the backup policy in such a way, it will accept the second tape?
How does labelling work for the second tape?
I have a setup where master and client doesn't communicate with each other and only master server & media server are in a n/w Firewall zone so they only communicate & resolve each other..Now my question is how the restore will take place ?
Bp.conf has first entry as that of master servet..is this correct..will the restore work ?

Currently in my environment,we have DD , so my doubt is "Does the data flow from client to DD directly or it goes via Mediaserver to DD?"
Hi, I have a linux server with with netbackup client installed. I am running the bpclimagelist command from this server (/usr/openv/netbackup/bin/bpclimagelist) to see the status of backup jobs that have been scheduled to run on this server. Can someone tell me where does bpclimagelist get it's information from - is it from log files on the local server or is it from the image database on the Master server ?

We are having the Netbackup 7.5.0.4 as Master Server and also the Media Server on 7.5.0.4 both are windows server, and we have issue in backup where the backup is skipping the particular folder and the files. In fact we dont have any Exclude List for that particular folders and files. Let me explain the below scenario
NetBackup Master Server: Windows 2008 R2 x64 bit -> NetBackup 7.5.0.4
NetBackup Media Server : Windows 2003 x86 bit -> NetBackup 7.5.0.4
Tape Library: HP MSL4048 with Library Firmware version 8.20
We initially had a issue with the Tape Library Intermittently diconnecting and showing Drives only instead both Robot and drive. We have upgraded the Library Firmware, now it is showing One Robot and Two tape drives correctly in Master Server, whereas in Media Server it is showing 7 tape drives and 4 Robots. This problem is still persist. we thought of backing up the E:\ which is file server drive. In E:\ drive with have other few small folders and and one folder is IMAGES where all the information stored, when we try to backup the backup will backup rest of the folders and skip the IMAGES folder without any logs of skipping in backup job and job completes with Status Code 0 (there is no exclusion list for the folder). Then we have selected only E:\IMAGES folder in selection list to backup, but backup failed with Error code 90, mentioning nothing to backup, whereas the E:\Images has got millions of file with around 5 TB of data.
It will be great if someone has any solution for this. Also if anyone come across the Tape Library issues, as it showing more drives and robots in Media Servers.

One of my DB Redolog is failing with status 6.
It was running fine for last couple months and started failing from last two days.
There was no changes made as per my knowledge on client/media/master server.
I verified the name resolution from client and master as suggested in this link

I found two descripencies
1)bpclntcmd -pn from client
It is displaying two names
a)old client name along (client old domain name) b)along with the correct name
2)bpclntcmd -ip <client ip adress> from master server is giving oldclientname(client old domain name)
how to and where to change these.

I have an old master server with Netbackup 6.5 installed connected to an old tape library
and another New Master Server with Netbackup 7.5 installed connected to a new tape library
my question is if I took one of the tapes from the old one to the new one Is it possible to scan it and see it on the new master server and explore its contents and even restore any of it given that both have the same clients the two master servers are controlling the same clients ?

I tried to create SRT for windows x64 and i had few problems.
my BeraMetal boot server and the master server are the same server and its x86 architecture.
I start the berametal SRT wizard>create new>create new fast SRT>on the path to net backup Client i give the X64\PC_Clnt\x64\Veritas NetBackup Client.msi .
during the installation when the copy files to the SRT occurs i getting "failed to copy "MFC71.DLL" to the STR" error
is the problem occurred because the boot server is x86 ?
how can i create SRT for windows x64?

I don't have this policy in my policy list at master server but it gets triggered automatically and shows me a failure of 230,anybody seen this before ?
why it is triggering & what could be done to get this ghost policy removed totally ?

DD boost 2.1.x and DD VTL
Which is the best option to configure SQL server (with huge data around 1 TB)backups in NetBackup (Windows )environment.
Option 1 : Configure SQL server as SAN media server and take the backup directly into DD VTL
Option 2: Enable ddboost option in one of the media servers and configure SQL backups
Option 3 : Configure NFS/CIFS advance file type device in DD and take the backup of SQL servers
Let us know if there is any other better solution. We want less backup window and should not get any performance issue with SQL (we usually get high CPU, memory utilization alerts).
