Exchange 2010 Clustered and NetBackup
I need a solution
All the experts out there, I am new with Symantec solutions of Clustering and Netbackup
I have managed to cluster 2 nodes of Exchange 2010.
the clustering guide of Exchange 2010 does not allow you to configure DAG neither Virtual Name whereas what I have came to know is that previously in Exchange 2003 clustering guide we use to configure DAG and Virtual Name. Further while we use to backup from Exchange Database we used to give Virtual Name in backup selection which used to communicate with DAG and allow Netbackup to identify database to backup.
Kindly help how to cater this situation in the case of Exchange 2010

ERROR 59 Access to the client was not allowed
I need a solution
one of my servers stopped backing up with an error code 59. i have attached the bpcd from the client nduhbss01 10.0.9.46. my master/media server is ndumgt001 10.0.9.171. i am not sure how to interept the log but i see 2 entries which do not seem write to me.

Virtual Media Servers
I need a solution
Hi all,
We're potentially looking to replace our physical media servers, and I've been looking into whether it could be an option for us to virtualise our media servers on a VMware / Cisco UCS platform. Our NetBackup 7.5.0.4 servers are all running Windows Server 2008 R2 and they all currently back up to Data Domain 880s over a 10Gb network.
I have had a look at the “Support for NetBackup 7.x in virtual environments” PDF and found that it is supported, but there are some limitations around storage units, VMware HA / VMotion and also a support disclaimer regarding unforeseen incompatibilities within the hypervisor environment.
Are any of you using virtualised media servers or have any experience of how reliable or problematic they may or may not be?

Netbackup - Robotic Library IBM TS3200 LTO 6

Hi,
I have a problem with my robotic library, I have a Master/Media Server Deduplication 7.5.0.6, the master server is a RHEL 6 Update 4 x64, I have a Robotic Library IBM TS3200 LTO 6 whit HH6 tape drives.
The problem is: In the moment of configure the tape drives on Netbackup, I take control of Medium Changer but my tape drives has the "UNUSABLE" and the error is the status 20.
Any idea?

NBU 7.5 upgrade from 7.5.0.6
I need a solution
We are planning to upgrade our NBU from 7.1.0.4 to 7.5.0.6 on HP UX IA64. I got a few questions which somebody may share your knowledge with us. Thanks.
Would like to know if any other tips.
1. the release notes say we will need to apply 7.5.0.6 immediately after 7.5 upgrade to avoid the metadata migration to initialize on 7.5. do we have to start all NBU services before we upgrade to 7.5? it looks if not, the upgrade process will automatically start some NBU services.
2. do we have to run the "metadata migration" manually or it will be kicked off automatically when we start services?
3. How about our archived catalog? do we have to restore all archived catalog back for this "metadata migration" to complete?
4. How long is going to take for "metadata migration" process for around 200,000 images?

Facing issue with Image cleanup Jobs

Hello Team.
Round about 400 image cleanup jobs is in progress and they are in hung state.. because of this amster server was hung twice and we rebooted the server but after reboot again lots of image clean up jobs ran and due to capacity issue server was hung after every 8-10 hrs..
We have DD in our environment and what i found in logs is below..

SQL job fails with error code 2
I need a solution
I'm very new to Netbackup, well backups in general as I've taken over this system when employees left. I'm getting an error code 2 on SQL jobs and it seems specific to the TIDB portion of the backup. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. See below for more detail.

I have a question. I have my legacy backup system running NBU 6.5.4. We are planning to upgrade the LINUX OS for the media server which is currently running version Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.3 x86_64 GNU/Linux. IS NETBACKUP 6.5.4 compatible with Red Hat OS 5.7????

I need a solution
Hi everyone, I'm new to the backup world and am learning using the trial by fire technique due to short staff. I was hoping someone could tell me how to get a report from Netbackup 7.5 to show all of the backup policies that are active. I need info such as policy name, server, retention, frequency, etc. Any steps on how to accomplish this would be much appreciated. Thank you!

add_media server
I need a solution
1.) Using /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/add_media_server :
The command format for adding media servers is :
# /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/add_media_server -M host server1 [ ... serverN ]
Where, -M host is the client host, where you want to add the SERVER entry
server1...serverN are the media-servers you want to add
E.g. Want to add media servers med1 and med2 on a client clnt1 , the command would be :
# /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/add_media_server -M clnt1 med1 med2
In the above command, we can specify multiple media servers, that we want to add.

2.) Using /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/add_media_server_on_clients command (as Peter Jacobs already suggested) :

You can run the add_media_server_on_clients command from a NetBackup server to synchronize the server list from the server�s configuration with the server lists on the known clients.
The add_media_server_on_clients command attempts to connect to all configured clients (clients that are listed in backup policies). For each client to which it can connect, add_media_server_on_clients updates the client�s configuration, (if necessary) to include all the servers from the server�s configuration.
NOTE: This command will take the SERVER list (in bp.conf) from the master server and will update on each of the client (to which Master server can connect). If you have a discreet distribution of the media-servers amongst the client, this command will swipe the old distribution and will add all the media-server in each of the client's configuration.
3.) Apart from Command line, we can do it also from the NBU-JAVA Admin Console:
- Go to Host Properties > Clients.
- Multiple select the number of clients (press Ctrl key and select each client OR use Shift key for continuous selection)
- Right Click and open properties. This will open the common properties for the clients you selected in previous step.
- Go to Servers in Left Pan of the properties
- Click "Add..." button and add the server name you want to enter.
- Click OK to close.
The above method is the simplest method for adding (or removing ) SERVER entry from multiple clients.

Hi All,
I have some questions about multistreaming and multiplexing.
1:- How many multi stream we can do in policy. I think its 32 and how can we change it?
2:-How many multistream can we do in policy and how can we change it lets suppose we need to stream it 2 gb each?
Could somebody tell me how to change the settings for both? The procedure.
